Spiritually and Physically Fit!

Many Christians are spiritually fit but physically weak and sick. Fitness, nutrition, and health is our RESPONSIBILITY as stewards of the body God gave us. It is our duty to remain spiritually and physically fit for Christ.

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

The verse above applies to all areas including fitness, nutrition, health, and all forms of abuse against the body (sexual, physical, alcohol, drugs, etc.).

It’s not about looking good or having six-pack abs. Although, form follows function and you will look better which will in turn make you feel better about yourself. Having a better self image and confidence are things you need as a Christian to give you the BOLDNESS, POWER and STRENGTH God has given us through the Holy Spirit. And good health means we can do what God has called us to do.

“For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of POWER and love and DISCIPLINE.” – 2 Timothy 1:7

Discipline your body through proper exercise and nutrition. Let it fuel you and provide the POWER and STRENGTH you need to be BOLD in Christ and to honor and glorify Him while fulfilling the purpose He has for you! God should be your inspiration and motivation to get fit and healthy.

I have spent a large part of my life immersed in fitness and nutrition as an intense hobby and passion and never had a clue why until God revealed the reasons for it in 2009 when I lost my  job and started Underground Fitness Revolution. I can help you because it is God’s purpose for me. It’s the reason He created me. He gave me gifts, talents, and abilities to fulfill this purpose in my life yo!

My current goal is to become as spiritually fit as I am physically fit. And although I have many more years of physical fitness under my belt than I do as a Christian, God continues to grow me spiritually each and every day the more I follow in His footsteps, listen to what He is saying, and follow what it is He wants me to do.

I’m asking you to commit 15-30 minutes a day to get fit, lose fat, and improve your health. If you cannot do that, nothing else will work for you. No gimmicks, pills, potions, or any other fad or easy fix! Just consistency and hard work.

It will take discipline, commitment, action, better habits, and a lifestyle change but it’s all to honor and glorify God in the end and do what we are responsible for doing as Christians and stewards of our bodies yo!

Time and Money is NOT an Excuse!

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21

I will no longer accept time and money as an excuse for not getting fit, losing weight or improving your health. We all have the same 24 hours in the day, and we all have financial constraints and a budget to follow (at least, I hope you have a budget that you follow).

The reason time and money is an easy excuse is because it doesn’t require an explanation or much thinking to tell someone–including yourself. It flows off the lips quite easily and stops further conversation almost immediately. At the same time, it puts a stop to your fitness, weight loss and health goals just as quickly.

When someone uses the time and money excuse, what they are really saying is that not accomplishing their goals is not important enough for them to find a way to make it happen. Really. It’s true. Think about it. If you REALLY wanted to lose weight, if it was THAT important for you, there would not be an excuse in the world to prevent it from happening. You would make it happen no matter the cost involved.

Let’s address why I won’t accept time and money as an excuse for not reaching your fitness, weight loss and health goals.

Let’s talk about the TIME Excuse.

As I mentioned before, we all have the same 24 hours in the day. How do you spend those 24 hours? If you’re like most people, you work 8 hours each day, you sleep 5-8 hours each night, you spend time commuting to work, eating meals, spending time with your family and watching TV, spending time online or playing video games.

If you took some of the time you spend watching TV, “Liking” or posting on Facebook or playing video games and pinning things on Pinterest, you would realize that you have plenty of time to train.

Not even the busiest person can say they don’t have enough time when all it takes is 10-15 minutes each day. Don’t believe me? Research has shown that an INTENSE 10-minute workout can be as beneficial or more beneficial than a 30-minute workout. That means everyone at least has time for something like Focus T25 or The 10-Minute Trainer.

Seriously, time is NOT an excuse. Everyone has more time than they say, but how they prioritize that time is the key. If TV, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and other social networks are important to you, then that’s where you’ll spend your time.

According to recent research, the average US internet user spends 32 hours online every month with 8 hours spent on Facebook. Even if you train six days a week for one hour a day, that’s 24 hours per month. Where are you spending your time?Watch Full Movie Online Streaming Online and Download

There are plenty more statistics showing that a lot of time is spent watching TV, playing video games or visiting various social networking sites. If you have time to go online, you have time to train. And I haven’t even addressed time spent sitting at Starbucks or wasted time that you can’t seem to track where it goes. No excuses!

Here’s my tip for you: MAKE THE TIME!

You need to SCHEDULE time for your daily training program. Whether it’s 10, 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes each day or several days each week, you need to schedule that time just like anything else important to you. You schedule appointments to see your doctor or dentist right? Or an important meeting? A date? Your workout program is no different. You MAKE the time because you SCHEDULE it as a part of your daily routine because it’s a HABIT and a part of your LIFESTYLE as I’ve addressed in my previous blog post HERE!

Let’s talk about the MONEY Excuse.

This always comes up whenever someone makes an excuse as to why they can’t get fit, lose weight or improve their health.

First, you have to stop thinking of the COST or EXPENSE of getting fit, losing weight or improving your health and instead start thinking of it as an INVESTMENT!

The only difference between an expense and an investment is your PERSPECTIVE of it. Change your perspective and the whole view changes.

If you view your training, food, equipment, supplements or other things to help you achieve your weight loss, fitness or health goals as an EXPENSE, you won’t achieve your goals. You’ll find excuses or reasons why you can’t afford it or why it’s too expensive or whatever other excuse you come up with.

But if you think of those things as an INVESTMENT into your body and your life, and how it will help you achieve your goals of losing weight, getting fit and improving your health, you will not only achieve your goals, but you will EXCEED your goals. It will become a part of your LIFESTYLE.

You will no longer say, “I can’t afford it.” You will FIND a way to make it happen! You will do whatever it takes to make sure you invest in your weight loss, fitness and health. There will be no excuses. You will have a yard sale, or you’ll cancel your cable, or you’ll sell some things or find a way to get the money you need to make it happen.

I’ve had coaching clients sell things in order to afford the training because it was that important to them! They had yard sales and sold items they no longer needed or wanted in order to get fit and healthy!

Investing in your health is crucial as neglecting it now will cost you far greater later in the form of doctor visits, prescription drugs, surgeries, emergency room visits and much more due to poor health and diseases that can be prevented by nutrition and training.

Did you read the Bible quote I posted at the top? Here it is again:

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:21

What does this mean? It means that whatever you spend your money on is what you deem important to you. If that includes cigarettes, alcohol, fast food, your daily Starbucks stop, going out to eat all the time, partying, spending money on various items of clothing, electronics, cars, jewelry or whatever else you place as priorities, then you have more money than you need to get fit, lose weight and improve your health.

To me, there are a lot of other “priorities” people make that don’t help them accomplish their fitness, weight loss and health goals. Yet, they are the same people that say they don’t have money to invest into a Beachbody training program or Shakeology to truly change their body and their life.

Here are my money-saving tips to you:

1.) Give up Starbucks (or Fast Food) for a Month. If you skip your daily trip to Starbucks, McDonald’s or another fast food restaurant each day for a month, you’ll easily be able to afford having Shakeology as one of your healthiest meals of the day.

At a cost of only $4 per meal, Shakeology is far better for you than your favorite coffee drink or burger and provides a nutritional punch that will help you start your day with protein, fiber, and 70+ super foods while improving digestion, fending off cravings and keeping you full and satisfied for hours. Can your favorite latte or sugar-filled coffee drink or greasy burger or chicken sandwich do that? Not at all!

2.) Stop Wasting Money! What do you spend your money on? Do you know?  Can you track it all? That’s right, stop wasting money. If you budget your money each month, you should know where it’s going and what it’s being spent on. I can guarantee that you are spending money on items that you don’t really need or want. It could be too many nights eating out, jewelry, the latest electronic devices, the latest fashion trends in clothing or accessories, or a number of other addictions (cigarettes, alcohol, etc.) or useless and pointless purchases that don’t add value to your life.

3.) Set Aside a Fitness Tip Jar. This is an easy way to save up money specifically for your training program, Shakeology or supplements. Take all your extra change each day and put it in a jar. Sell things at a yard sale or on ebay and put all the money into your Fitness Tip Jar. Better yet, take the money you would have spent at Starbucks, a fast food restaurant, or any other bad habit you have and put it in the jar. You’ll have the money you need to afford a training program or Challenge Pack in no time!

These are just a few tips. I’m sure you can think of many more that will work for you. I will no longer accept time and money as an excuse for not reaching your fitness, weight loss and health goals. Neither should you!
